Be Still My Heart

My heart raced, but for the wrong guy. I'm the girl that prefers to "be called," so getting a call from a guy is a big thing for me, even if I am looking too much into it. Knowing me too well, you know whom I thought it'd be. I should've known better. I'd have to call if anything.
But onto the real situation at hand. James called to ask me about the Chem book that I have that he wants to borrow. kuripot :p So he asks how my vacation is so far, and I said I'm a bit bored. Thought about shopping and stuff, but...my dad's deadbeat Honda is parked in front of my Saturn, and now I have nowhere to go. He suggested that if I ever go to Glendale to "hit him up."
I should stop being so straitlaced and maybe even...accept some of his offers sometime.

Datu has made his way back into my sight

Of course Jess knows the one time he said hi to me in the dining hall during lunch. Not so hot, I agree. He seems most interested though. Out of sheer coincidence he happened to be eating in Rieber for dinner that Tuesday too. I ate alone, saw Rhommel, and James spots me and talks to me, though awkwardly. I was preparing my tea, and I bring my tray over to the table where he, Clarisse, and Rhommel were sitting. We (all of us at the table) end up socializing more, getting an extra bowl of cereal, talking about what we're gonna do. I found myself talking to Rhommel more than Datu. And it was just today when James realized that I lived in Dykstra. Wow, end of the quarter and he just found that out. All this time he thought I lived in De Neve.
I know very well that this isn't supposed to be a complete mystery, but it feels like one right now. Interest? I guess. It's obvious, but not enough for me to be certain. Potentially romantic? I can't see it.

Is it true that a lot of navy men are messed up?

The first person I heard it from was my cousin Raquel. Now my Ate Meanne lives by it, seeing as how the father of her child planned to join the navy. Okay, that wasn't a very good reason, but keep in mind that my perpetrator was also a navy man. Then again, he had a very individual case. So, according to Ate Meanne, she said that they are probably more horny due to the following:
Overseas they get attention, expecting to get the same amount of it coming home.
They're deprived. But didn't navy men have USO dances too?

The reason why I brought this up is because my mom told me a childhood friend is now a Marine.
"Donna, do you know Christopher?"
"Uhm, sorta."
"He's a marine now. A helicopter pilot to be more exact."
Talk about the element of irony. Last time we met, I wanted to attend CalTech for college and he wanted to join the Naval Academy. But before my thoughts started wondering about his present whereabouts, I was quickly interrupted with a "he's ugly though." I get the feeling that's my mom's way of expressing disapproval.
