He's Just Not That Into You

The book tells me what I've (secretly) wanted to hear all this time. Of course it's very disappointing to have a book telling you that he's just not that into you, but at the end it says that you're fantastic. Men should be chasing you, not the other way around, because you're just that great. The book also teaches me to throw away the optimism, which is a bit sad to do.
But to be honest with you readers, would I really want to be at the mercy of a guy who's gonna wait until he's ready to pursue me again? NO! Come on now, that's almost tantamount to slavery. Exclusively holding out for the one guy who's probably not going to return anything anytime sooner is just plain sad. That's the last kind of girl I want to be. I don't like being the damsel in distress either. I find it somewhat sexist and will eventually be offended by it along the way. So while the book dashes optimism, it presents the idea of finding comfort in losing hope over a guy that's just not that into you. It's so existential, I love it. It's Camus with a sense of humor.
